Dawn of the Year Festival, Saturday February 2nd

This time of year marks the midway between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox.  It is known across many cultural tradition as a time of purification, renewal, and preparation for the coming season.  In Europe, farmers have begun to turn over their beds in anticipation of the first planting.  In Japan, young and old alike celebrate by throwing beans and shouting to banish evil and invite in good deeds.  In China, this season marks the beginning of the new calendar year, and cut plum branches adorn the house, hinting at the coming beauty of spring.
