- URGENT: Re-Enrollment Applications Due

- Friday, November 30th 

If you would like your child to continue on at New Amsterdam in the 2013-14 school year please complete the first page of the preschool application and return it to the school by November 30th.  The applications are an opportunity for you to indicate the program you would like your child to enroll in next year.  They also assist us in planning for the future.  There is no application fee for returning families. Re-enrollment contracts will be sent out the second week of January and are due back with deposits by February 8th, 2013.

- All-School Parent Evening

Our next all-school Parent Evening will be held on December 3rd, 2012. One family member is expected to attend.  We will start at 6:30 with a short discussion with our mentor teacher Louise deForest on first grade readiness and then move into our classrooms with your teachers. >> more

- Use of Parent Lounge for Lunch

It is wonderful to see families sharing lunch in the Parent Lounge after school, but we would like to ask that you plan on leaving the school by 1:15 PM.  This is the time the Aftercare children are transitioning into their rest and we want to make sure the school is quiet and calm for them.

If you are considering having your child continue at New Amsterdam in the 2013-14 school year please complete the first page of the application and return it the school as soon as possible.  The application is not binding, but does begin to give us a picture of our enrollment for next year.  Only families who return the completed application will receive re-enrollment contracts.

Cocktail Reception at Von December 5, 2012

Dear Friends,

We are thrilled to host for the first time ever, a cocktail reception to launch our holiday auction. Our holiday auction is shaping up to be one of the finest ever, with many exciting gifts, special packages and services and an abundance of beautiful, hand made crafts. 

Come to Von (3 Bleecker Street @Bowery) on Wednesday, December 5th, 6-8pm to celebrate the launching of this wonderful event. More than that, come and raise a glass to our school, to each other and to all of the hard work, commitment and love that goes into building and maintaining this extraordinary community!

There will be complimentary cocktails, wine and beer; a delicious spread a yummy edibles by Murray's Cheese; and an exciting sneak peak at the auction! Select items will be offered at auction that night and that night only! 

We will also be holding a raffle for a chance to win a pair of premium tickets to our upcoming February Benefit Concert!

Eurythmy: A note from Averi

Dear Parents of the New Amsterdam School,

     My name is Averi Lohss and I am the new eurythmy teacher here at the school.  I have been doing eurythmy with your children one day a week and I am also offering a parent class on Mondays from 9:00 to 9:45am.  I will cover what I do with the children as well as copper rod exercises, verses and other eurythmy forms and sequences.  As many of you know, Rudolf Steiner spoke of the importance of eurythmy within the curriculum for children and I am so grateful to have the opportunity to bring this wonderful art form to your children and now to you as well! Eurythmy is such a centering, nurturing art form that can benefit all.  Please join me! Looking forward to meeting many of you soon!
